Mind Murmers is an interactive choreography of moving particles that form a seemingly autonomous entity. The work is inspired by flocks of starlings whose collective behaviour, like networks of individual mindless neurons, creates something with intelligence. And it raises questions like: what makes us attribute consciousness to something, and how do we link purpose to consciousness?
Aiming to express consciousness as a force that somehow emerges, the particle choreography resembles something that seems to posses a mind but whose movements and patterns remain abstract. Giving the audience a sense and feeling of what might go on in the brain and also the sensation of being part of the collective, connected by the dance of this strange organism that is constantly constructing itself out of particles.
